Charleville started strong and were rewarded with a penalty which their out half kicked. After 20 minutes Brian O'Leary charged down in a kick which resulted in a Kanturk lineout five metres from the Charleville line. The lineout was overthrown but the opportunist Brian O'Leary gathered the ball and went over for a try. Gary Piggott missed the conversion. Kanturk's captain led by example by getting Kanturk's second try after a 55 metre break by Lopez to leave the score 10-3 in the away teams favour. Kanturk kept up the pressure in the second half and were rewarded when Gerry Foley took the ball at four and gave the ball to Piggott who fed Lopez who in turn drew in two players before off-loading to Stephen Stokes. Stokes took the ball up hard and fed O'Leary who went over for his second try with two players on his back. Kanturk's fourth try saw the opportunistic Leary chasing a kick that missed touch and seemed to be a lost cause. It was worth the chase as the ball bounced in his favour and he put Kanturk 20-3 in front. Kanturk then took their foot off the pedal allowing Charleville to score an unconverted try.

Mallow suffered their first defeat in the South Munster Junior 3 league when they lost heavily to local rivals Kanturk. Kanturk are a strong side and will be strong contenders for the title. Mallow started the game brightly with a good pick and drive game, but soon fell behind to a Kanturk try from James O'Riordan. Despite an Aiden Buckley penalty, Mallow were unable to keep pace with Kanturk in the final quarter. The home side ran in further tries from Cormac O'Keeffe, Stephen Stokes and Lopez, two of which were converted, to run out convincing winners by 24 points to 5.

This game will be remembered more for the reffing than for rugby. He never allowed Kanturk play the flowing rugby they wanted to. Their only score came when captain Alan Sheill picked at the back of a scrum and fed Malcolm O'Leary who beat a number of players to score a great individual try. Man of the match for Cork Transport was Pa O'Brien from Kanturk who played for the Cork side.

Kanturk started well and Midleton were on the defensive for the first 20 minutes. Both Stephen Stokes and James O'Riordan broke over the Midleton try line but were held up. Kanturk had some very strong runners in Shane Dineen and Pa O'Brien and Kanturk and were rewarded with a penalty on the stroke of half time which Declan Collins narrowly missed. Kanturk started well again in the second half but could not crack the Midleton defence which was excellent throughout. Midleton then scored a try from a good lineout and moved it quickly across the park. Stokes again got over the Midleton try line but was held up for the second time. Midleton scored a second try which wasn't converted. Kanturk got a try back and converted it. Midleton held out for the win but Kanturk will feel that they deserved more.

Kanturk took an early lead in this friendly through Stephen Stokes who picked up a dropped Mallow pass and raced over the line from inside his own half. Declan Collins duely kicked the conversion to give Kanturk a 7-0 lead. However the lead did not last for long and Mallow went onto win this tough game. Brian McAulliffe the seasoned vetern and coach had to pick himself. That was nothing new as this man is often called upon however what was new that instead of playing in his usual positions of 10 or 12 he played hiself in the front row at prop. It was a unanomous decision from his teammates that he was outstanding and deserved his award of Kanturks man of the match. Also good for Kanturk were Stephen Stokes and Daniel O'Callaghan.
